Custom keycaps design guide
Create custom keycaps with your own colors, legends and artwork. These steps will help you prepare your design for printing.
Choose your layout first
Select your keyboard layout before adding colors or artwork. Check Enter, Shift, the spacebar and the bottom row against your keyboard. Starting with the right layout saves you from having to reposition artwork later, particularly if an image spans several keys.
Choose colors and readable legends
A base color, a legend color and an accent color are a useful starting point. Try your accent on a few keys, then adjust the palette as you go. Check that text and icons are easy to see against every background color you use. The preview helps you compare combinations, though printed colors can differ from the colors on your screen.
Prepare your artwork
Use clear, high-quality source images and check how they look at keycap size. Small text and thin lines may be harder to read once printed. Zoom out regularly and leave enough space around fine details. You can use the configurator's fonts and icons or upload your own files. Please use artwork that you own or have permission to print.
Check your design before ordering
Review the spelling, position, size and rotation of each legend and image. Check the less frequently used keys as well as the main typing area. Save an export for your records, then review the selected layout and order options.
