Custom keycaps compatibility guide
Find the right custom keycaps for your keyboard by checking its layout, key sizes and switch mounts.
Find your keyboard layout
Search our keyboard layouts using your keyboard's full name and version. You can usually find these on the keyboard itself, its packaging or your order confirmation. Different revisions and regional versions can use different key sizes, even when they share a name.
Compare the key sizes
Start with Enter, both Shift keys, the spacebar and the bottom row. Compare them with the layout preview, including any split or extra keys. ANSI layouts use a wide Enter key, while ISO layouts use a tall, stepped Enter key. The percentage alone, such as 75%, doesn't tell you which key sizes a keyboard needs. Sizes are often given in units. A standard letter key is 1u wide, so a 2.25u key is two and a quarter times that width.
Check the mounts and keycap profile
The mount underneath each keycap needs to fit your switch stem. Check your keyboard's specifications, especially for low-profile or proprietary switches. The keycap profile also affects the shape and height of the keys. Cherry profile, for example, uses different shapes for different rows, so a keycap from one row may feel different when moved to another.
Review the complete set
The selected layout determines which keycaps are included in your set. Check the full preview against your keyboard before you start designing. If your layout isn't listed, you can create it in the Custom Layout Editor or contact us for help. Custom keycaps are supplied on their own. Keyboards and switches are sold separately.
